As dogs age, it is common for their joints to become less flexible which impacts their mobility and quality of life. You may have noticed that your dog has difficulty walking up stairs or jumping on the bed. While he used to be eager to play, now he is content to rest. Even at younger ages some dogs are subject to joint health concerns which affect flexibility and mobility. Recommendation as a Supplement: The Initial Administration Period is 6 Weeks. Most animals should respond within this period. Improvement on Cosequin can range from gradual to dramatic. If the improvement is gradual, it may go unnoticed by the owner. It is therefore important to keep the animal at the initial amount for at least 6 weeks before deciding to discontinue the use of Cosequin. If there is gradual improvement and Cosequin is discontinued, a regression of clinical status can occur. Directions: Initial Administration (6 Weeks) Dogs: 25-49 lb. - 2 capsules daily (1 in A.M./ 1 in P.M.), 50-100 lb. - 3 capsules daily (2 in A.M./ 1 in P.M.), Over 100 lb. - 4 capsules daily (2 in A.M./ 2 in P.M.) Cosequin DS double strength can be used on patients under 25 lb., however, 1/2 capsule increments must be used. For convenience, Cosequin regular strength should be used. Regular strength can also be used for maintenance of dogs weighing 25-49 lb. that maintain below one capsule daily of double strength.

Cosequin DS 800 capsules bought here July 2008, product exp. date May 2008. Why are they selling old stock? I paid over $[...] for something that should be thrown away.

With previous companion German Shepherds, I purchased Cosequin DS from the vets office for a healthy price. Cosequin DS is the gold standard for combatting age-related mobility problems like arthritis in older large breed dogs. I was worried about affording it in the current economy when I did a price comparison. Imagine my surprise that Amazon, from whom I had been purchasing for years, not only offered the product, but offered the best price by far of even pet stores. I have told all my friends with large breed senior dogs to avoid the pet stores and head straight to Amazon online to get their Cosequin. I can already see the difference in my friend. She has been taking the capsules with her meals for a couple of weeks now. The spring is back in her step. She gets up the stairs and into her favorite chairs without help once again.
