As dogs age, it is common for their joints to become less flexible which impacts their mobility and quality of life. You may have noticed that your dog has difficulty walking up stairs or jumping on the bed. While he used to be eager to play, now he is content to rest. Even at younger ages some dogs are subject to joint health concerns which affect flexibility and mobility. Recommendation as a Supplement: The Initial Administration Period is 6 Weeks. Most animals should respond within this period. Improvement on Cosequin can range from gradual to dramatic. If the improvement is gradual, it may go unnoticed by the owner. It is therefore important to keep the animal at the initial amount for at least 6 weeks before deciding to discontinue the use of Cosequin. If there is gradual improvement and Cosequin is discontinued, a regression of clinical status can occur. Directions: Under 10 lbs. - 1/2 to 1 capsule daily, 10-24 lbs: 2 capsules daily (1 in A.M./ 1 in P.M.), Maintenance Administration (After initial 6 week period), Cats and dogs under 10 lb. can often have their dosage reduced to 1/2 capsule daily or 1 capsule every other day. 10 to 24 lb. can often have their dosage reduced to 1 capsule daily.

I was skeptical about some of the comments of recovery I read before I gave this product to my Westie. Well, let me tell you my dog has registered a marked improvement! He was given an x-ray when he was reluctant to get up in the morning, walking slow and timidly even though he was only five years old. The x-ray indicated he had the beginnings of what could be arthritis.
I followed the instructions to the letter and after six months he could actually jump up on the couch - something he could see his doggie daughter do but he could not. We were astonished with the results. He is on maintenance dose now and seems to continue to improve. This is a wonderful product and would highly recommend it.
My dog was given this medication by her vet for a painful hip condition and it has helped, what more can you ask? We had a very difficult time locating this product outside of the vet's office and just by chance found it on Amazon at a much better price.
